COOLsculpting.

Reduce stubborn pockets of fat without surgery, needles, or downtime — with FDA-cleared CoolSculpting Elite. Allergan Platinum Plus practice, dual-applicator capable, conservative cycle planning.

What is CoolSculpting Elite

Controlled cooling, targeted fat reduction.

CoolSculpting Elite is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive body-contouring device by Allergan Aesthetics that reduces stubborn pockets of fat using controlled cooling — a process called cryolipolysis. The applicator chills the fat layer beneath the skin to a temperature where fat cells crystallize and trigger their own breakdown, while the surrounding skin, nerves, and connective tissue stay intact.

Once treated, those fat cells are cleared by the lymphatic system over 8–12 weeks. The reduction is permanent — the cells don't come back. CoolSculpting won't move the scale; it changes the contour of the area, not your weight.

It's not liposuction. There's no anesthesia, no incisions, and no recovery period. The trade-off is that the result is more subtle than surgery and takes weeks to appear — but most patients can return to work or the gym the same day.

How it works at Reviv

Mapped applicators, paired cycles.

At Reviv Med Spa in Millbrae we run CoolSculpting Elite — the current-generation system from Allergan Aesthetics. Our practice is recognized as an Allergan Platinum Plus partner, which reflects sustained CoolSculpting volume and ongoing technique training. Every consultation starts with a full anatomical assessment — we look at where the pockets sit, whether the tissue is pinchable enough to draw into the applicator, and what a realistic result looks like for your body.

The Elite system runs two applicators at once, so we can treat both flanks (or both inner thighs, or both upper arms) in a single visit. The applicator family includes:

CoolAdvantage large applicators
Abdomen, flanks, back, bra fat — the workhorse applicators.
CoolFit arm + thigh
Upper arms, inner thighs, banana roll — flat-surface anatomy.
CoolMini Elite small applicators
Submental (under chin), submandibular (jawline) — the small-area applicators.
CoolCurve+ curved areas
Outer thigh, knee — curved-tissue applicators.

After the assessment we map the applicator placements, mark the skin, place the applicator, and run the cycle — typically 35–60 minutes per cycle. After the cycle ends we perform a brief manual massage of the treated area, which is a small but important step shown to improve outcomes. Most areas need 1–2 cycles per side, and you may need a second round 8–12 weeks later to refine the contour. Most patients drive themselves home and return to normal activity the same day.

Standardized progress photos at your follow-up — same lighting, same pose — let you see the change side-by-side rather than guessing in the mirror.

Areas commonly treated

Nine zones, one toolkit.

In your consultation we'll identify which areas would benefit most for your goals. The Elite system covers most pinchable pockets across the body and a few small face/neck applications.

Abdomen

Lower belly and upper abdomen — the most-requested first area.

Flanks

"Love handles" along the sides of the waistline.

Submental

Under the chin — softens a small fullness without surgery.

Inner thighs

Stubborn pockets along the inner-thigh contour.

Outer thighs

Saddlebag area along the outer thigh.

Banana roll

The crease just below the buttocks.

Upper arms

Mid-upper-arm fullness — common ask after weight stabilizes.

Bra fat / back

Bulges along the bra line and mid-back.

Submandibular

Jawline fullness — the new Elite C applicator handles this area.

What it addresses

Pockets that resist diet and the gym.

Diet- and exercise-resistant pockets

The areas that don't budge with the gym — the primary indication for cryolipolysis.

Submental fullness

Under-chin fat that adds a soft second-chin look. CoolMini / Elite small applicators handle this without surgery.

Post-weight-loss contouring

After significant weight loss, residual pockets often remain. CoolSculpting refines what diet alone can't.

Pre-event body contouring

Wedding, reunion, vacation. Plan 8–12 weeks ahead — that's when results peak.

Non-surgical alternative to liposuction

No anesthesia, no incisions, no downtime. The contour change is more subtle than lipo, but there's no recovery to plan around.

Before you book

What to know, in four lines.

  1. 01

CoolSculpting destroys fat cells permanently — they don't come back. Remaining cells can still grow if you gain weight, so the result holds most reliably when you're close to a stable weight.

  2. 02

It's not a weight-loss tool. Expect a contour change, not a number on the scale. The literature reports up to ~25% fat reduction in the treated area per cycle.

  3. 03

Results take 8–12 weeks to peak. Your body has to clear the destroyed cells through the lymphatic system — there's no instant before-and-after.

  4. 04

Pricing is per cycle and quoted in writing at consultation. Most areas need 1–2 cycles; we map the treatment plan with you before any treatment.

What to expect

From day zero, to week twelve.

Day 0

Treatment day. Applicator is placed, cooling runs 35–60 minutes per cycle. You read, take a call, or doze. Drive yourself home.

Days 1–14

Treated area may feel firm, tender, or numb. Mild swelling and redness are normal. No restrictions on exercise or daily activity.

Weeks 3–8

Lymphatic system is clearing the destroyed fat cells. Tenderness fades. First contour changes start to show in the mirror.

Weeks 8–12

Full result. We compare standardized photos to your baseline. If a second cycle would refine the contour, we plan it now.

Pre & aftercare

Before your visit, and the days after.

Before your visit

Avoid Anti-Inflammatory Medications
Refrain from using anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin for at least one week before the procedure to minimize the risk of bruising.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment. Staying well-hydrated helps your body respond better to the procedure.
Healthy Diet
Maintain a balanced diet rich in vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, and whole grains. A healthy diet can improve your overall results and help maintain them post-treatment.
Avoid Alcohol
Limit alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
Wear Comfortable Clothing
On the day of your appointment, wear loose, comfortable clothing to ensure you are relaxed during the procedure and to avoid irritation of the treated area.
Pre-Treatment Photos
Be prepared to take pre-treatment photos. These will help track your progress and results over time.
After your treatment
Manage Discomfort
Mild discomfort, redness, swelling, or bruising at the treatment site is normal. Use over-the-counter pain relievers, such as acetaminophen, if needed, but avoid anti-inflammatory medications for the first 24 hours.
Stay Hydrated
Continue to drink plenty of water post-treatment to help your body flush out the crystallized fat cells.
Gentle Massage
Gently massage the treated area for 5-10 minutes, two times a day for the first two weeks to improve circulation and enhance results.
Avoid Strenuous Activity
Refrain from intense physical activity for at least 24-48 hours post-treatment to allow your body to heal and reduce the risk of swelling.
Wear Compression Garments
Consider wearing compression garments to help reduce swelling and support the treated areas.
Healthy Lifestyle
Maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise routine to optimize and sustain your results. CoolSculpting is most effective when combined with a healthy lifestyle.
Follow-Up Appointments

Pricing

What it actually costs.

CoolSculpting pricing at Reviv is from $750 per cycle, and most areas require 1–2 cycles per side. Final cost depends on the area, the applicator size, and how many cycles your plan calls for. We map the treatment plan and quote it in writing at consultation, before any treatment begins.

Honest fit

Who it's for — and who it isn't.

A good fit if
  • Adults near a stable weight with stubborn pockets that diet and exercise haven't resolved

  • Patients with submental (under-chin) fullness who don't want a Kybella series
  • Patients planning a body-contouring goal 3 months ahead of an event
Not for you if

  • Patients with hernias in the treatment area
  • Pregnant patients

Common questions

Frequently asked.

Does CoolSculpting Elite hurt?

No. The first 5–10 minutes feel intensely cold and there's a pulling sensation as the applicator engages, then the area numbs. After the cycle, a brief deep-tissue massage of the treated area can be uncomfortable for a minute or two. There are no needles and no incisions.

How is CoolSculpting Elite different from regular CoolSculpting?

Elite is the current-generation system. Compared to the original CoolSculpting, Elite has redesigned C-shaped applicators that contact more skin per cycle, dual-applicator capability so we can treat two areas at once, and a wider applicator family that handles smaller and curvier areas. Same underlying mechanism (cryolipolysis), better delivery.

How much fat does it actually remove?

Clinical data reports up to roughly 25% fat reduction in the treated area per cycle. That's a contour change, not a weight change — most patients don't see the scale move. Some areas need a second cycle 8–12 weeks later to refine the contour.

When will I see results?

First visible changes around weeks 3–4. Full result at weeks 8–12 — that's when your lymphatic system has finished clearing the destroyed fat cells. We take standardized comparison photos at your follow-up so you can see the change side-by-side.

Are the results permanent?

The fat cells destroyed by the cooling are gone permanently. The cells that remain in the area can still grow if you gain weight, so the result is most stable when paired with a steady weight. Most patients keep their result for years.

Is there downtime?

No restrictions on activity. The treated area may feel firm, tender, swollen, numb, or tingly for 1–2 weeks — sometimes longer. Most patients work out the next day. We'll review the full sensation timeline at your consultation.

How much does it cost?

Pricing starts at $750 per cycle and depends on the area, the applicator size, and how many cycles your plan calls for. We map the treatment plan and quote it in writing at consultation, before any treatment begins. No surprise charges.

Who should not get CoolSculpting?

Patients with cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria (rare cold-sensitivity disorders), patients with hernias in the treatment area, and patients who are pregnant. We screen at consultation. If you've had a previous abdominal surgery, mention it during your visit.

Can CoolSculpting treat the chin?

Yes. The Elite small applicators (formerly CoolMini) treat submental fullness — the soft fat under the chin. Most patients need 1–2 cycles. It's a non-injection alternative to Kybella.

How does this compare to Kybella?

Both reduce submental fat permanently. Kybella is an injection (deoxycholic acid) and typically takes 2–4 sessions spaced a month apart. CoolSculpting is non-invasive and typically takes 1–2 cycles. Kybella usually has more swelling; CoolSculpting usually has more firmness/tenderness. We'll recommend the right one for your anatomy and goals.
