• Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Hair Regeneration
  Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is made up of a number of proteins, cytokines, and other bioactive factors that are the foundation for natural wound healing.   At Reviv Med Spa & Laser Treatment, Dr. Misle began experimenting with PRP for hair loss over 10 years ago when she began reading studies about athletes traveling abroad to heal torn ligaments faster. Dr. Misle noticed measurable and visible results in this experimental procedure reversing hair loss and immediately integrated the treatment into the medical practice.

  The treatment involves injecting the scalp with human growth factors, compounds in the body that signal cells to heal and grow. PRP is plasma that has been concentrated with platelets. These concentrated platelets contain proteins and growth factors that help increase circulation to the hair follicles, stimulate the follicles to grow, and even thicken the hair shaft. It is believed that the introduction of platelets through platelet-rich plasma can actually stimulate the growth of follicles, thereby reversing hair miniaturization seen in androgenetic alopecia and even preventing hair loss.

  After a small amount of blood is taken from the patient to produce the PRP, the scalp is cleaned and numbed with a local anesthetic. The blood is centrifuged to generate the PRP and then is injected directly into the areas of hair loss.
