Does ONDA Pro tighten the face,
and how do you know it is working?
ONDA Pro's small handpiece tightens skin and refines contour along the jawline and under the chin, and the honest answer to "is it working" is a photograph. Tissue looks tighter minutes after a session; the result that counts builds over weeks and across a planned series, judged against your baseline. Here is how to tell the two apart anywhere, and how we do it at Reviv.
A series you paid for,
and nothing to show for it.
Among the low-rated reviews of medical spas within thirty miles of Millbrae, the most common complaint about results is paying for a series and seeing no measurable change. It came up at twenty-six of the fifty-five practices in our most recent read of the regional record, more often than any other results complaint on the Peninsula, and the pattern repeats: a package of sessions, a promise that results build, and no agreed way to tell whether they did.
Energy-based skin tightening is where that worry is sharpest, because two true things pull in opposite directions. Heated tissue looks tighter right away, so the mirror flatters you on the way out. The cumulative change, the one you are paying for, arrives over weeks as disrupted fat is cleared and new collagen forms, and it accumulates across sessions. Without a baseline photograph and a date to judge against, the immediate glow and the durable result are easy to confuse, in both directions.
Our own post from the studio put it lightly: "While we can’t promise you’ll be 21 again, ONDA PRO Face can help you look more refreshed, lifted, and youthful by tightening skin and improving facial contours." The lightness is deliberate. The promise underneath it is not, and the way to hold any practice to it, including ours, is to ask how the change will be measured before the first session.
Four things to settle
before any face-tightening series.
Use these at any practice, including ours. If a provider cannot answer one of them without hesitating, that is your answer.
- A baseline photograph, taken the same way every time. Standardized photos, same light, same angle, same expression, are the only fair judge of gradual change. If nobody photographs you before the first session, there is nothing to compare the last one to.
- A date on which the result is judged, and what happens if it is not there. Tightening right after a session is a normal early response to heat, not the result. Ask when the cumulative change should be visible for your plan and what the provider will do if it is not: adjust, pause, or recommend something else.
- A reason for this device, on this area, over the alternatives. Microwave energy, radiofrequency, and surgery reach different depths and suit different degrees of laxity. A good provider will tell you, unprompted, when your laxity is beyond what a non-invasive device can change. For the jawline specifically, ask what the device is cleared for and what is offered at the provider's discretion.
- A written plan with the session count and the price, and a physician behind it. The number of sessions should be mapped to your area and goal, in writing, before you commit, with a named provider and the physician who reviewed the plan.
Judged against your baseline,
session by session.
At Reviv Med Spa & Laser Treatment in Millbrae, every ONDA Pro plan is reviewed by Dr. Gayle Misle, MD, an Anesthesiologist holding CA Medical License G38840 and our Founder and Medical Director, and sessions are run by Megan Sosnick, MSEL, MSN, RN, PHN, CNL, our Practice Manager and Aesthetic Nurse, who maps your treatment areas and tracks your standardized progress photos through the series. That is Megan in the photograph above, working along a patient's jawline in our studio on El Camino Real, a few minutes from Burlingame and San Bruno. Both are named with their credentials on the providers page, and you can name the provider you would like to see when you request a consultation.
On the face we use ONDA Pro's small handpiece, made for smaller, harder-to-reach areas with a lifting effect, including submental and jawline refinement. Coolwaves, patented 2.45 GHz microwaves, bypass the surface layers and are delivered mostly to the subcutaneous fat, while the same energy heats the dermis and prompts collagen to contract and rebuild for firmer, more compact skin. One thing we say plainly: the U.S. clearance our treatment page cites is for non-invasive body contouring and the improvement of cellulite. Jawline and under-chin work with the small handpiece is offered at our providers' discretion, and whether it suits your anatomy is decided at consultation, not assumed. When laxity is the concern and fat is not, multi-frequency radiofrequency tightening for the jowls, lower face, and neck is the other honest option on our menu, and we will tell you which one fits.
Here is how we answer "is it working". ONDA Pro is planned as a series, generally 3 to 6 sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart and about 20 to 30 minutes each, and we map the exact number to your area and goals at consultation, in writing, with the price, before any treatment begins. Our post about the face says "we recommend a series of three"; the rule on the page is that the count is mapped to you. We take standardized progress photos and adjust as your result develops, and we compare them to your baseline at follow-up. What you see five minutes after a session is the skin's immediate response to Coolwaves, not the finished result. We say so on the treatment page's patient results, where the facial pair was photographed five minutes after a single session for exactly that reason, beside an upper-arm pair after two sessions of a planned series. Results accumulate over the planned sessions and continue developing for weeks after the final one; individual results vary. If the photographs are not showing the change we mapped, the plan is adjusted, and if you would be better served by a different modality altogether, we say so.
About the stack. The post that prompted this article says ONDA Pro "pairs beautifully with wrinkle relaxers, dermal filler, or skin resurfacing treatments for an even more complete facial rejuvenation". Each of those does a different job. A neuromodulator that softens the muscle motion behind expression lines does not add volume; hyaluronic-acid fillers that restore volume where it has been lost do not soften motion; fractional laser resurfacing for texture and tone works on the surface. None of them tightens lax skin, and ONDA Pro does not do their jobs either. That is the honest case for combining them, and also the reason a stack is sequenced and priced in writing at consultation rather than added chair-side: for some patients we pair energy modalities, and we map that at consultation. If you would rather think a plan over, taking it home is usually the right call, and how to get an honest opinion without the package pitch describes how our consultations end.
After eighteen years in Millbrae, with more than 300 reviews on Yelp and about 150 on our Google Business Profile, ONDA Pro is still new enough to us that treatment-specific reviews are only beginning to build, and we say that on the page rather than borrow praise from elsewhere. What we can show a wary patient from Hillsborough or San Mateo is the photographic record itself. Reviv was the fifth med spa in the United States to take delivery of ONDA Pro and begin treating with it, and one of the first thirty practices nationwide to put it into regular use, which means hours on the device since it arrived in the country in April 2026, refining which handpiece suits which depth and how much energy a given area tolerates. Photographs, not adjectives, are how we expect to be judged.
Where this applies,
treatment by treatment.
Asked at the front desk,
answered here.
Does ONDA Pro work on the face, or only the body?
Both. ONDA Pro handles localized fat, cellulite, and laxity across the body, and its small handpiece is used for smaller, harder-to-reach areas with a lifting effect, including submental and jawline refinement. The U.S. clearance our page cites is for non-invasive body contouring and cellulite, so jawline and under-chin work is a provider-discretion use decided at consultation. Coolwaves microwave contouring for fat, cellulite, and lax skin lists every area and the full plan.
How soon should I see a change, and what if I do not?
Skin often looks tighter minutes after a session; that is the immediate response to Coolwaves, not the result. The cumulative change develops over weeks 2 to 8 as the lymphatic system clears disrupted fat and collagen remodels, and it accumulates across a planned series of generally 3 to 6 sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. We compare standardized photos to your baseline at follow-up and adjust as your result develops, and if a different modality would serve you better we say so. Call us at (650) 697-3339 if anything about your progress concerns you.
Can ONDA Pro be combined with wrinkle relaxers or filler, and who decides the order?
It can be part of a facial plan: a neuromodulator softens muscle motion, filler adds volume, resurfacing treats the surface, and ONDA Pro tightens skin, so they solve different problems. The sequence, the session count, and the price are mapped in writing at consultation, before any treatment begins, and Dr. Gayle Misle, MD reviews every ONDA Pro plan. What to bring so the consultation produces a written plan and price is the companion guide.
